It’s finally Spring!

I can’t believe it’s finally spring. Time to break out the bug spray and buy a new camera. Oh, how I want to finally buy a nice, digital SLR. I can’t believe it’s that time of year again. The wildflowers will soon be popping up. I need to get ready.

It’s MARCH!

You know what that means?

Springtime, baby! Just three more weeks.

Get ready wildflowers, spring is just around the corner. I can’t wait. I live for this season. And yet it’s snowing out right now as I blog this. Oh well, I can wait. Mother Nature can’t hold out forever; time keeps moving. (Hey, did you notice I used both the phrases, I can’t wait & I can wait? Funny how we use expressions, eh!)

Eureka, a new format!

Finally, I have a Contact Me page. And more than that, I’ve been able to include it as a part of an excellent format change for My Wildflowers website. Instead of having any About pages nested in the same list as my precious wildflower pages, the About pages are now confined to their own, separate spot dedicated solely to them – About Me section, at the top of the sidebar.

I made some structural changes to the About pages. I basically ‘eliminated’ two of these pages. What I did was hide the Welcome page so that it doesn’t appear anymore on the list of pages in the sidebar. That makes this front, home page that much more significant. And I combined two of my pages into one. So instead of having an “About My Self” page, I added it to the “About My Wildflowers” page. That makes this ‘new’ page deal with both author and history of the website in one page.

eighth post, another wildflower

The new wildflower I just added is the Common Cat-tail that I mentioned in my last post. I took pictures of it last year and this year, so I added images to its page from both years. I like the pictures from last year a lot better. The images from this year were captured during the same time as the last two wildflowers I added, the Swamp Candles and the True Forget-me-not. Enjoy.

I’ve managed to add three entirely new and complete wildflower pages in the past three weeks – that’s one new, complete wildflower a week. That’s pretty good. I’m impressed, but I’m afraid it may end there. I hope not, but I will be going on vacation next week and then I’ll be starting back to my fulltime day job at school the following week. So we’ll see.

I added a new wildflower to my growing list of wildflower pages. I added the True blue Forget-me-not. I found this wildflower in the same wet stand as the Swamp Candles from a few weeks ago. These two were growing among some reed-like grasses and the Common Cat-tail, which I hope to eventually add as well – perhaps next week.

I can’t believe it! I’ve got a new wildflower page up and completely done already. It feels so good. And this latest addition comes straight out of my most recent excursion into the wild. I discovered the swamp candles during a Saturday I spent a couple of weeks ago hunting for new and wild flower species. I got lucky and found a number of species I was happy to capture. So of course there will be more to come but unti then, enjoy this recent wildflower addition.

I am finally done with the round-lobed hepatica page. It took me a while to get it right enough for me to be happy with it. I added more pictures than I thought I would but I think it helps break up all the text. I don’t know what I’ll do when I make more finds of this flower in the future. I don’t really want to edit what I’ve already put up, or simply tack on to the bottom later discoveries. Maybe I’ll have to add a second page, like a sub-page. Enjoy!

I know, I know, I don’t need another About page but I just can’t stand it. I love trying to explain and describe this new venture of mine as much as possible. So I added a new page About My Site. This new page will better explain in-depth about all the different aspects of my new project. It basically expands upon my Welcome page with new information on the sources and content of my site.

I also took the entire bottom paragraph out of the About My Wildflowers page and added a paraphrased version to this new page. Lastly, I made very minor, virtually unnoticable changes to the opening sentences of both the afore-linked-to page and the About My Welcome page.

It’s only my third day with my new blog and already I’m on to my third post. That’s great. But I think deep down I planned it that way. I know from now on my updating will be much less frequent. I know I can’t keep up with this pace. I really hope to get a nice, new wildflower page up and running each week, though. So here’s looking to the future for that hope to be fulfilled.

Anyhow, getting back to what I changed today, I added a brand new Welcome page to greet and meet each new visitor who steps through my door. It took me a long time to write and design because I wanted to make it perfect. After all, it will be the first message that people will see and read. Chances are, at this point, it’s the first thing you saw, which eventually led you here.
